Mailberg & Grape Variety

„Optimus quisque“ – „Simply the best“ has been the guiding principle of the Souvereign Order of Malta for about 900 years. Since 1969 the well-known wine producer Lenz Moser works the current 48 hectares of vineyards of Mailberg in the Waldviertel region. The most prominent types of grapesin the Mailberg winery are the traditional Austrian Grüner Veltliner and Blauer Zweigelt. Furthermore, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Blauer Burgunder have ideal conditions in this region. The wines of the winery of the Souvereign Order of Malta are limited and each bottle is numbered.

‘Brut Gutssekt’

The Maltese sparkling wine ‘Brut Gutssekt’ is a blend of grapes of the Grüner Veltliner, Chardonnay and Blauburgunder. This unique, dry sparkling wine from the Mailberg vineyards  convinces your palate with its subtle and animating taste, its delicate scent and young, fruity aroma. It’s the ideal wine for an aperitif and goes well with fish dishes and marine creatures.

The wines of the castle winery Souvereign Order of Malta are limited and each bottle has a number. They are supplied by selected wine and gourmet shops as well as the online shop of selected Vinotheques, sophisticated food and wine trade and the online shop of Lenz Moser.
